David Duchovny, who played Fox Mulder on “the X-Files” TV series and two films, is reportedly receiving treatment for sex addiction.

In a statement released Thursday by his lawyer Stanton Stein, according to The Associated Press, Duchovny said he entered a rehab facility voluntarily.

I have just recently finished watching all of Season 1 of “Californication” which is Duchovny’s new serries on Showtime.  Duchovny plays Hank Moody a down on his luck writer suffering from writers block after his pride and joy novel was optioned and turned into a horrible romantic comedy.  Moody likes to live life to the fullest and has no qualms about enjoying his vices of women, drugs and booze.

The show is hysterical and Duchovny plays his role to perfection.  However, I am now left wondering if playing a character who bounces from one sexual partner to another in the matter of an episode is the best for David’s current perdiciment.  I really hope he finds the help he needs and this show can continue in a way that is healthy for him as an actor.

Social networking sites such as MySpace, Facebook, LinkedIn, LiveJournal and Twitter are a very popular trend on the internet.  The large majority of internet users are on at least one of these sites with some people trying to maintain networks on multiple.  These social networks give the user an ability to keep track of long lost friends, share photos of their lives, locate people they may know through a third party and in the case of LinkedIn and some of the others you can even find jobs and employees.

Having a fully populated friends network can connect you with people you’ve not heard from in a long time and even with people you’ve never heard of.  Being connected to all the other people you work with today can help you find a new job tomorrow.  I know, I know these are just words without an example, so here you go: Just the other day a recruiter I work with was looking for somebody with a certain skill-set.  He knew very well that a person he placed three years ago had this experience and gained it while working with a group at his previous company.  The recruiter found the former placement on a social networking site and then browsed their connections to see who they worked with at said prior company.  Instantly he had identified two candidates!

So there are great advantages to social networking!  You can reconnect with friends, you can keep your family up to date with what is happening in your life, you can search your friends networks for people you know or would like to know, and you can even be found by potential employers.  But nothing in this world is all good.  Everything comes with its downfalls.  A fuel efficient vehicle usually does not have much space, a wonderful vacation costs a lot of money and, … well you get the idea.  What makes social networking sites dangerous?  Information is power and we tend to give a lot of information on these sites.

The popularity of these sites has increased and peoples member profiles are becoming more and more verbose.  While this may be great for your friends and family there are down sides of these sites or more importantly with what you put on them.  As stated above, recruiters, HR managers, current or future employers, and other people who have influential decision power over your future are aware of these sites and are searching names in their databases; your name.  What will they find?  A status message that tells them you just skipped out of work early, a profile that says you hate your job, a personal blog entry about how much of a moron your boss is or maybe a picture of you half naked and drunk?

You don’t have to be somebody else and you can contain to share the above mentioned items with your friends.  But be smart about it!  Make your profiles private, make sure anything you put that is publicly viewable is positive and professional and realize that just because you don’t think something is a big deal doesn’t mean everybody else would agree.  Things like political views, religion and links to things you find humorous may be offensive or put a bad taste in somebody elses mouth.  While you’ve the right to your opinions remember that people will judge you based on them.  Logout of each and every social networking site you’re on and then search for your name through Google.  See what you find.  Go to the sites you have memberships on without logging in and search for yourself.  See what you find and make sure your presenting yourself in the way you feel is right.

So, I receive a group of emails from somebody I do not know informing me of their travel itinerary and what not.  Since I have no idea who the heck this person is I inform them they’ve written to the wrong person.  Two days later, another booking email, this time about their return trip and a comment,

It’s going to be an early morning.

Since I have already been nice about them emailing the wrong person, I now slip into Dave mode and respond with,

That’s great … Who are you?

I was quite wrong in thinking this would have ended it as I received,

is that a rhetorical question that doesn’t make sense to me?

Alright I figured I should just AGAIN put it all out on the table,

Well, you’re emailing somebody who has no idea who you are … repeatedly.

Alright.  Problem solved.  She’ll stop emailing me all this information.  NOPE!!!

you only get one guess as to who is coming to lax this thursday, staying at your apt and leaving on sunday.

hint 1: try reading the intinerary that is included in this email…scroll down to TRAVELER NAME.

are all boys this dumb?

Oh dear lord.  Not to mention that I knew her name from the FROM header, and that she should have seen my name was not that of whom she was emailing.  Furthermore, she was emailing my gmail account which forwards to my waxman.org and the response was CLEARLY from waxman.org, with a freak’n signature.  At this point I respond with,

Are all women this thick?  YOU’VE EMAILED THE WRONG PERSON.  I DO NOT KNOW YOU, I DO NOT LIVE IN LA, IN FACT I HATE LA!

Finally with this the concept that she has been emailing the wrong person begins to set in and I receive an apology that she meant to email somebody else … no shit.

ERIE, Pennsylvania (AP) — A woman charged in the drunken-driving death of her son went to a bar after his funeral instead of reporting back to jail, state police said.

The article goes on to explain that she was released from jail for 24 hours to attend the funeral of her son, who she killed, and instead of returning to jail she went to a bar.  It’s a fundamental flaw that any woman can get pregnant and any man can donate to that cause.

While I can easily accept she has an alcohol dependency issue she had been in jail, and thus sober, for days prior to the 24 hour release.  You’d think she’d have the ability to be “free” for 24 hour without getting wasted.

… has been keeping me awake at nights.  Tonight we went to bed by 10:15 and I was out of bed in a cold sweat (after two bathroom trips) by 11:15.  Issues at work and self pity caused by career situations have been weighing heavy on me.  My goal for the moment is to continue conversing online until I am so exhausted I can just pass out.  I’m not making much sense in the conversations I’m having but I never do when sleep deprived.

My recently acquired XBox 360 Elite console is going back to Gamestop with the GTA4 disc tomorrow.  I tried to play the game today and the system froze.  Not once, not twice but well over seven times.  Upon further inspection it seems as if the console may have put some small scratches on the disc.  I’m also hoping Xbox games are meant to have a small area of disc, then a line, then more disc as mine does.  Tomorrow I am going to force Gamestop to swap out everything other than the HD as I tested with that removed and it still froze.  I don’t see a reason to lose all my completed missions :)

… Just give a simple answer!  I can not even count the times today I have sent a simple request out to the field and received gibberish, long winded responses with no content and or additional questions without a bit of a response to mine.  Some examples:

Q) Will your candidate be accepting this job offer?

A) Is there a fixed markup?

Q) Can you provide three times tomorrow your candidate can go to be finger printed?

A) They’ll go tomorrow.

Q) Are you free to discuss this in detail on the phone?

A) Where?

I’ll just slam my head on the table now.

And not overly impressed so far. During April of 2007 Comcast purchased Patriot Media, my locally owned and operated cable provider. Patriot Media’s service has been outstanding, their customer support has been quick, polite and they resolved issues in a quick and timely manner. Including the cable trimming incident. Since about December we knew that Comcast would begin taking over services and support and I personally celebrated each day things remained under the control of Patriot Media.

In either late February or early March we learned that the Patriot Media services would roll into Comcast control and operation shortly. At first we were told it would occur sometime in March and then we received printed literature that stated April 18th 2008. While a change in internet provider for most people is not a terrible issue for me it is a big deal because: 1) I work from home, 2) I run multiple personal services including my photos site and some sites for my father and 3) I am a geek; speed is important. I had previously due to a server failure moved my mail hosting to Google’s domain hosting services and have recently in anticipation of service changes moved this site. A good friend Brian K. has been very kind in offering me hosting on his co-located box.

At some point in the middle of the night last night my service became Comcast. My IP address has changed and most unfortunately my network speed has become piss poor. I’ve run six or seven bandwidth speed tests through the internet and each one has reported my speed as being well below acceptable, let alone the 12mbit/1.5mbit I had received from Patriot Media. The better of the tests reported my speed at 2.5Mbit/500KB/s. Very disappointed and all my outbound connections are sluggish. With my work VPN up (which it is for about 10+ hours a day) internet surfing is slow and my VOIP is pretty much unusable.

Thankfully at this point they have not blocked all incoming ports and my services are still operational; albeit slowly.

Update: I’ve been told that people can’t reach either the photos link or the trimming video.  This is caused by your internet provider having old DNS records for my home server cached.  Most ISPs will recycle these values within 24 – 48 hours.

I think I’ve finally met my Master’s match. Statistics. It isn’t only foreign and difficult to me, it is evil and wrong.

Here I sit, in the commuter’s lounge with about half a dozen other future MBAs, wallowing in the pain of my first Stats exam. I know I complain about exams and usually get a good grade, but this exam is beyond anything I could have imagined. I will be praying to the gods of The Curve that his professor is a believer.

The worst part is… I have to go back to class now for another 3 hours to learn MORE statistics. I think I’ve died and gone to hell.

I will be making macaroni and cheese with ham from scratch tonight.

Kate + Statistics Exam = Comfort Food & Alcohol

There has been a parking issue here in the development for a while.  There are two spots per residence and no guest parking spots except for the common lot by the pool.  This isn’t a huge issue as these are only two bedroom condos.

There are multiple homes that have more than two cars.  While it sucks that they can’t all park in front of their home that is their problem and not mine.  I pay for two spots, I should get two spots.  Today the association painted numbers on the spot to show which ones belong to which home to eliminate this issue.  The paint isn’t even dry and somebody has already parked in our spot.  This is going to make it so that Kate will have to either take somebody else’s spot, park illegally risking damage to our vehicle or park far away and walk.

I am beyond pissed and ready to light this guys car on fire.  This guy CONSTANTLY parks in other peoples spots and or illegally (image below).  I’ve called the police about it however I am concerned about having it towed in fear they’ll vandalize my vehicle.
